ARGOVIA

ABOUT US

Argovia is a Colombian-Venezuelan rock band based in Bogotá, Colombia. It was founded as a project in 2013 by multi-instrumentalist Ani Guillén and keyboardist and music producer Carlos Arminio.

From 2013 to 2019

The project began with the creation of a homemade EP called "Lost Letters," drawing influences from Ayreon, Lacuna Coil, The Gathering, and Dream Theater. Exploring sounds ranging from alternative rock to symphonic metal, "Lost Letters" was an exploration to find the band's distinctive sound. This effort earned them a nomination for EP of the year at the Unión Rock Show awards.

Later, the band started producing "Distant Present" (2017), representing a search for a new sound while still closely tied to symphonic rock.

2020 - Now

In 2024, Argovia released the EP Who We Are, mixed by Alejandro Londoño and mastered by Steve Kitch, with drums recorded by Felipe Candia. The release marked a shift away from symphonic and digital elements towards a more mature, raw and emotionally driven sound, influenced by Riverside, The Gathering, Steven Wilson, Anathema and Karnivool. This EP led to the band being invited to open for Circus Maximus in Bogotá.

The EP received strong regional recognition: Who We Are was nominated as Best Ibero-American Progressive Rock Single by Nación Progresiva, and the release was listed among the Best EPs of 2024, positioning Argovia as one of the most consistent and relevant progressive acts in Latin America. During this period, vocalist Ani Guillén also participated in the choral recording of “Faceless” by Leprous, featured on Melodies of Atonement.

In 2025, Argovia began the release cycle of their upcoming album Primal Repetition with the singles Where Do We Go, Mountains and Ebb & Flow featuring Ross Jennings from Haken, previewing a more introspective and emotional full-length set for release in 2026.

The band opened for Weather Systems in Bogotá, while Mountains was named Track of the Week by Prog Magazine, highlighting its blend of melancholic atmospheres, powerful choruses and modern progressive dynamics.
